Provident Fund Office to end the Inspector rule

There are many chances that from coming month PF Office Inspector (Area Enforcement Officer) might sop visiting the establishment for the inspection of company records. This is because EPFO is trying to move the entire compliance procedure online.

This process of shifting compliance would start from 1st April 2012. This online method would end the Inspector rule in his area as there will be no personal inspection needed any more. According to this new online procedure, employer needs to give entire information for compliance himself voluntarily. According to the information submitted by employer, PF Office will make certain parameters to found EPF defaulters. These parameters will be changing every year so that establishments may not compliant with the same parameters.
Because of media, we all know about corruption in PF employees and it is growing day after day. Last year alone, CBI has registered cases against nine senior PF employees under prevention of corruption act and various other IPC acts. Those officials have caused a loss of Rs 169 crore to the EPFO. To avoid such more cases and to lessen the conspiracy of Area Enforcement Officer (PF Inspector) with the employer; these steps are a necessity to be taken.

All India Trade Union Congress’ member D L Sachdeva (CBT Membet) said, “We welcome computerisation, but saying that there will be no need for raids in no solution”.

A D Nagpal of the Hindustan Mazdoor Sangh said, “I doubt whether the EPFO will achieve anything by doing away with inspections. It is needed in some cases”.
